We are halfway through our desert experience of Lent. A good question to ask ourselves at this moment is - am I thirsty? If our Lenten resolutions around prayer, fasting and almsgiving are having an impact, it often results in awakening our deep thirst for God. Fr William unpacks this theme in his reflection on the recent Sunday Gospel.
The students in the various Catholic Societies on university campuses have been doing some wonderful things recently to witness to the presence of the Church on campus. Some University of Melbourne students spent the Labour Day holiday putting packs together to deliver to people sleeping rough on the local streets. It's great to see the creativity at work when charity is the driving force.
In case you missed it, there is a once off opportunity to attend an excellent silent retreat March 31-April 2. Fr Paul Rowse, OP is the main preacher and we have kept the cost down to $100 for students. Spaces are limited, so this is the week to sign up on trybooking.
St Patrick's Day marks the beginning of a series of Lenten Solemnities, leading up to the Annunciation. The Archbishop has called for 48hrs of prayer across that weekend. We are kick-starting this with Nightfever at Sacred Heart, Carlton. We look forward to seeing you there during that six hour block filled with Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, Song and Street Evangelisation.
Have a wonderful week
God bless you,
The Udisciple Team
