We Made It

Can you believe that we are here? 12 solid weeks of full time on campus learning are coming to a close.

It is a blessing to round out the semester under the protection of Our Lady. This week, we will take time to ponder the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary with our local Monash chaplain, Fr Robert Krishna, OP.

With our prayers for you,

Discipleship on Campus Team

Peace
The year, and the semester, is moving along very quickly, and who can keep up? It is evident on campus that students are hitting the books much more earnestly, hidden away in the libraries and study spaces trying to keep up with the assignments, due dates and looming exams. Surely, it is a welcome time to hear Jesus’ promise of peace in the Gospel on Sunday.

A 'loving madman'! St Catherine of Siena's vision of God
Sometimes our images of God can grow stale and our love can grow cold, and it takes an unexpected twist to bring us back. St Catherine of Siena’s work, The Dialogue’ is wide-ranging, but at its heart is a God who is madly in love with His creation, who, like…

Weekly Encounter

This week we caught up with Sabrina Batras who in her third year of study of a Bachelor of Primary Education at ACU.

What inspired you to study education?

My choice of vocation was solidified in 2018 when I went on a trip to Amoonguna in Alice Springs, to work with children at a small rural school, experiencing schooling through their eyes. I remember after this experience knowing with such clarity in my heart that I was meant to pursue teaching. I could not get past the power of the relationships made with students and the fulfilling feeling of knowing I may have made a difference in one of those children’s lives. In reality, they made the difference in mine. Children are the most inspiring to me and I have a deep love and desire to inspire young hearts and minds.

How does your faith contribute to your studies?

I’m constantly realising each day how much I need Jesus in my life, especially within my studies. Even in times when I loathe the 2000-word essay I need to write, my faith calls me to glorify Him through all necessary stages of studying.

Being a Catholic on campus can be difficult at times, especially when many people within my classes aren’t of the faith. In these moments, I like to remind myself that the Lord calls us to be set apart for His purpose; we are not to be ashamed of the gospel.
