Going in Haste

Good evening and welcome to another Udisciple Enewsletter.

Here we are already in the fifth week of Easter and Melbourne has just turned on the chilly weather to kick off the month of May.

Have you noticed how much is going on for young Catholics in Melbourne? Thanks to a dedicated crew of priests, young musicians and our discipleship interns, the Six30 Holy Hour occurs faithfully each week. Theology at the Pub has had a great line up of local and international speakers each first Monday of the month. The Catholic Societies on the various university campuses have been running camps, retreats and hosting multiple weekly events, generously opening them to any young person who is seeking to grow in faith and friendship with their peers.

Over the last month, the preparations for World Youth Day have stepped up a level. It has been a privilege to meet so many generous people ready to lead the 500+ pilgrims. We are blessed to have an Archbishop who is so thoroughly invested in growing the faith of his young flock here in Melbourne. He even dropped into the pilgrim session via Zoom live from Rome last week.

As we head toward the feast of Pentecost, you might want to join us in reading In the School of the Holy Spirit by Jacques Philippe. Catch up on the first section with this week's Udisciple podcast.

Looking forward to seeing some of you in the warm and cosy JPII House as we enter these last weeks of semester.

Have a wonderful week

God bless you,

The Udisciple Team

To fall in love: St Anselm and the point of faith and reason
St Anselm of Canterbury (1033 – 1109), whose feast was celebrated on 21 April, is someone who contributed significantly to our Catholic understanding of faith and reason. He offers elegant answers to a few common and perennial misunderstandings —answers that might help us navigate some contemporary crises of meaning, making this 11th-century…
